Benefits of Refurbishing Rather than Complete Replacement

Most fitted kitchen layouts are determined by the physical size and constraints of the available space. When
the time comes for considering a 'new' kitchen there is usually very little scope for changing the positions of the
cabinets and appliances which are already installed. If a complete replacement is chosen the customer ends
up paying for existing kitchen cabinets to be removed (and disposed of in an environmentally acceptable fashion) only
to be replaced by exactly the same size units in exactly the same positions. This obviously makes little sense
both from customer cost, or environmental cost points of view, particularly as most of the wear and tear in a
kitchen is to the surfaces, not the cabinets.
A much better option is to leave the cabinets where they are - if the odd one is damaged it is a simple task to
make a matching replacement - and fit new surfaces (doors drawer fronts, worktops etc). A refurbishment of this
type, for most average size kitchens, can usually be completed in 2-3 days whereas it is not unusual for a
complete replacement to take more than 2 weeks. With skilled kitchen fitters charging '£100's' per day the
resultant savings can be very significant.
Providing that the new doors have hinge holes drilled in the same positions as the doors they replace then
simply changing doors and drawer fronts is a job that literally anyone can undertake and complete in less than
a day. The immediate effect of doing only this is dramatic and is the ideal solution for smartening up before
putting a property up for sale. To add worktops and matching accessories such as Cornice, Pelmet, Plinth and
End Panels obviously takes a little longer and for the best results needs special tools.
A good kitchen refurbishment company will offer a much wider selection of door styles and finishes than are
available from replacement kitchen suppliers. They will have a completely bespoke service i.e. all items will be
made to exactly fit ANY cabinet size, they will also offer a comprehensive range of matching accessories, all
at extremely competitive prices.
